Rebekah AgwunobiRebekah Agwunobi attended high school at Choate Rosemary Hall in Connecticut and is a rising sophomore at Columbia University. Bekah’s love of debate and public speaking began during her time at Choate where she took public speaking electives and was a member of Choate’s debate team. She judges Public Forum, Lincoln-Douglas, and Parliamentary high school debates for Columbia Debate Society-sponsored tournaments. At the end of her freshman year, she took first place in Columbia’s George William Curtis Prize for Public Speaking for her persuasive speech about public health and false-tradeoffs. Outside of debate, Bekah works as a research assistant at MIT considering technology’s impact on pretrial justice. She is also Caroline D. Bradley Scholar, NCWIT Aspirations in Computing National Award Winner, and Choate Rosemary Hall Headmaster’s Scholar. She has loved Computer Science from a young age and found that debate gave her a voice to express her technical interests and gain valuable research skills. Bekah is thrilled to coach debate this summer and hopes to teach skills that have helped her in high school, college, and will continue to be crucial to her self-expression for many years to come.
