They will go back to the debate courses

We have been grateful to observe our daughter's growth since she began attending debate classes at See Change Education during the early days of the pandemic. She was understandably uncertain, hiding away from the zoom camera. However, her experience at See Change in the ensuing years has empowered her development.

Witnessing the transformation in our daughter's confidence and articulation is genuinely gratifying. Her ability to think critically and communicate eloquently has been significantly strengthened through her interactions with her peers, the guidance of her teachers, and her debating experiences at See Change and various prestigious competitions. The supportive environment has fostered her curiosity to learn and her confidence to express herself.

Through Dr Pang’s relentless support and patience, and See Change’s amazing teachers, Nick slowly developed the skills and interests and confidence grew gradually

Nic has now gone to boarding school in Canada, was recruited into the School Debate Team, appreciated for his strong fundamentals in his analytical, research speaking and delivery skills, and has been selected to represent his School to participate in the Regional Tournament in BC Canada

Nic will not be where he is today without See Change and Dr Pang’s help, and his interest in debate definitely did not come from his own initiatives - it’s us parents and teachers who need to guide them along the path and give them enough support and encouragement.  

My son and his classmates are not able to see their own potential, nor develop the discipline or stamina to pursue it. It’s us adults who have to do the heavy lifting at the beginning - and trust me - it’s all worth it!!!

My daughter joined the public speaking course in this summer. The tutor taught them the skills on public speaking with an emphasis on vocal clarity, volume, eye contact, and confidence, etc. She got plenty of chances to speak up in the class and she made friends there.

My son said the setting encouraged him to speak more. Through impromptu exercises, he learned to be more instanteous and responsive, and quick to think on his feet which was different from the course he attended in (the top leading centers in Hong Kong where the topic was given one week in advance). He enjoyed speaking more here at DPSI at See Change because topics are diverse and interesting, such as “should we continue online teaching for the rest of 2020” and “do we as citizens have a responsibility to protect the environment.” My son used to be quite shy but I am glad to see him enjoy speaking proactively in class now.

My son has never expressed any interest in debate after trying multiple debate courses. However, he recently joined See Change’s summer debate course and, at the end of the course, he proactively asked to sign up for their regular term debate class. He especially found the topics interesting and different from the typical topics offered in an introductory debate course. The instructor was approachable and very experienced as well. I’m very happy that my son now has a positive and keen interest in debate. Thank you See Change!

My daughter was invited to join the summer camp and subsequently the weekly course by her classmate. They started with ice-breaker by self-introducing themselves and they have touched on a lot of interesting topics for debate, for example, “Should animals extinct be blamed on human?”, “Should parents added genes for their babies”, “Should recycling be paid?”, “Should cloning be legalized?” and “Is space worth the cost?”. They were divided into pros and cons group and they had a 10-minute breakout room for subgroup discussion. After one or two sessions of warm-up, they are now very tuned and the pros and cons group will take turn to talk and rebut the opposite side. They can express themselves freely as there is no time limit for each turn. The tutor possesses skills to facilitate their discussion by giving useful feedbacks and ideas to the kids. My daughter likes her so much and enjoys the course a lot. I am glad that she can join the class and keep socializing with others while at the same time develop critical thinking and debate skills, despite we have to keep social distance in this COVID-19 outbreak.
